We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and innovative sleep physiologist, with relevant experience who enjoys working as part of a team.

The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering a safe and effective diagnostic and therapeutic sleep service. They will also take responsibility for the delivery of a service that aims to improve clinical outcomes, the patient experience and manage change and innovation in the service.

A postgraduate qualification or equivalent in Physiology or a related subject and extensive experience in a sleep laboratory is required.

The post holder will be competent in interpretation of respiratory sleep studies (oximetry and respiratory polygraphy) and polysomnography as well as in the initiation and follow-up of patients on CPAP therapy and non-invasive ventilation for chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure.

The expectations are to oversee the day-to-day running of the laboratory and to join a multidisciplinary team including consultants, clinical scientist, physiologists and nurses.

The Role:

The RCH currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sleep Scientist to join us in a part time, ongoing role. There are 2 overnight shifts (9:30pm to 7:30am, 9.5hours) on Monday and Tuesday nights.

Our Sleep Service performs 12 inpatient sleep studies per week and one home study per week. The focus is on children with complex and multiple medical problems, as well as neuromuscular disorders.

The successful candidate would ideally have significant paediatric sleep experience and ventilation experience (Bilevel particularly).

NZ - Christchurch Hospital, Permanent Full time

The sleep service at Christchurch Hospital is looking for a fulltime Clinical Physiologist specialising in Sleep Medicine. This position encompasses both paediatric and adult patients from the Canterbury and greater Canterbury regions. The role involves the setup and analysis of complex sleep studies performed to the highest quality standards. The role will also include the set-up and maintenance of nocturnal ventilator support (CPAP/Bi-PAP/ASV) for patients with sleep disordered breathing.

The Sleep Service has a strong commitment to delivering high level support to the community sleep providers, and part of the role will involve support processes associated with the community Sleep Pathway.

We are seeking an enthusiastic applicant with graduate accreditation in science or equivalent. Experience in the field of Sleep Physiology is desirable but not essential.

This position is 40 hours a week, with the potential of some evening/overnight work and occasional regional work.

The successful applicant must be a team player and able to work in a dynamic and busy environment. Salary and conditions are in alignment with the National Physiologists Collective Agreement as a Clinical Physiologist.

The MidCentral Health (MCH) Sleep Service provides a diagnostic and treatment service for patients with sleep disordered breathing including obstructive sleep apnoea.

It is part of the MCH Respiratory Service and includes the integrated sleep service which provides a model of care amalgamating primary and secondary services.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with an interest in patient care, treatment and diagnostic testing to join the service.

Sleep Physiologists are responsible for ensuring the provision of sleep related tests and patient treatment both in the hospital and the community.

You will have, or be working towards, a relevant health, biomedical or technical qualification. Recent experience in clinical diagnostics and treatment would be beneficial however this will be provided to a suitable applicant without this experience.

You will work as part of a team of physicians, physiologists, nurses and administrative staff to provide expert diagnostic and treatment service to a diverse range of patients.

It is essential that you have a demonstrated ability and interest in working with people and medical technology.
